Stopping and pausing
Cancelling a running update, and pausing the nightly for a few days.
Updated 2026-09-24
What it does#
/stop ends the run that is going right now. Pause, on your dashboard, stops the nightly from starting at all for a day, three days or a week - for a tournament, a busy weekend, or while the line is needed for something else.
How to use it#
- /stop - ends the watch and clears the lock. It does not close the launchers, so a download that is already running carries on by itself.
- /stop all - the same, and closes the launchers too. Use it when you want the server quiet.
- Pause - open /dashboard, choose 1, 3 or 7 days. Resume is one tap on the same page.
- Extra update times - also on the dashboard, if once a night is not enough. Each extra time runs the same full round.
The pause is on the Overview tab of your dashboard, under the update buttons:

Note: An update you start yourself with /update always runs, pause or not. Pausing only stops the automatic ones.
Staff groups may send /stop. That is deliberate: the person who notices a 12 GB download strangling the cafe at 8pm is on shift, not at home.
What the reply means#
| Reply | What it means |
|---|---|
| Stopped the run. | The watch ended; a download already running continues on its own |
| Nothing is running. | There was no run to stop |
| Paused until Friday | No nightly will start before then; /update still works |
When something needs you#
- A download you stopped keeps going. That is intended: stopping the run never kills a launcher's download, because killing it mid-patch is how a game gets corrupted. /stop all closes the launchers if you really want it to end.
- The nightly did not run while paused and you forgot to resume. The bot keeps reporting the pause in your dashboard; resume there.
